What is Transmission Gearbox?

A transmission is a machine in a power transmission system, provides controlled application of the power. Often the term transmission refers simply to the gearbox that uses gears and gear trains to provide speed and torque conversions from a rotating power source to another vehicle part.

The term transmission can refer to the whole drive train, including clutch, gearbox, prop shaft (for rear-wheel drive), differential, and final drive shafts. Or, it can refer more specifically to the gearbox alone, and detailed usage differs.

It common use is in motor vehicles, where the transmission adapts the output of the internal combustion engine to the drive wheels. The engines need to operate at a relatively high rotational speed, which is inappropriate for starting, stopping, and slower travel. Transmission reduces the higher engine speed to the slower wheel speed, increasing torque in the process. Transmissions are also used on pedal bicycles, fixed machines, and where different rotational speeds and torques are adapted.

Normally, a transmission has multiple gear ratios (or simply “gears”) with the ability to switch between them as speed varies. This switching may be done manually (by mechanic) or automatically. Directional (forward and reverse) control may provided. Single-ratio transmissions also exist, it simply changes the speed and torque (or sometimes direction) of motor output.

In motor vehicles, transmission generally is connected to the engine crankshaft via a flywheel or clutch or fluid coupling, partly because internal combustion engines cannot run below a particular speed. The output of transmission is transmitted via the driveshaft to one or more differentials, which drives the wheels. While a differential may also provide gear reduction, which primary purpose is to permit the wheels at either end of an axle to rotate at different speeds (essential to avoid wheel slippage on turns) as it changes the direction of rotation.

Conventional gear/belt transmissions are not the one mechanism for speed/torque adaptation. Other mechanisms include torque converters and power transformation (e.g. diesel-electric transmission and hydraulic drive system). Hybrid configurations is exist too. The transmissions use a valve body to shift gears using fluid pressures in response to speed and throttle input.

Q: How is the warranty claim?

A: In our bill got stated about your gear box code and warranty period. Within warranty period, we cover your gear box expenses and customer not to worry to pay extra.

Q: Is there any hidden charges for after sales service?

A: Some workshop might charge labour fee for remove/refix gear box during warranty claims because normally warranty only cover gear box but not labour. However, it is worth noting that we Will Not charge the labour cost if is our gear box problems during warranty period.

Q: How if after warranty period got problems?

A: It depends how long out of warranty period. If between 1-2 years we will charge for the faulty parts and labour only. If more than 2 years then we will suggest you to change a new gear box again.
